Lunch Break

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Dunny and I met up with our boy Martin Rogers to catch up, talk some nonsense and watch the Arsenal v Barcelona Champions League game. Martin writes for Yahoo! and is not only incredibly knowledgeable about the game, but he is also a passionate soccer fan. Although he’s from England, Martin is based in the US now and he is another person who works daily on building soccer in the United States. His columns and the work he does for Yahoo! goes a long way towards helping to accomplish that. He recently returned from covering the winter Olympics and he was in Amsterdam for the recent US v Holland friendly. He’s headed to South Africa in the near future to cover the World Cup so make sure you stay tuned to his columns.

Arsenal V Barcelona – Champions League Highlights

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Incredible game between Arsenal and Barcelona. Zlatan with the brace after struggling against English teams in the past. Thierry Henry made his return against Arsenal and Cesc Fabregas and Arshavin limped off injured. Arsenal pulls two back to get the draw but gave up two valuable away goals. Fabregas, Puyol and Pique all set to miss the second leg now. This one is going to be interesting.

Bayern Munich v Manchester United – Champions League Quarter Final Highlights

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Things started off very positively for Manchester United, but definitely didn’t end that way. Especially with Wayne Rooney limping off and giving up a game winning goal in the dying seconds of the game. Should make for an interesting return leg at Old Trafford.

This Is American Soccer

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Our boy Adam Spangler is in LA for a few days, so we linked up today to catch up on all things American soccer . As many of you know, Adam runs a great site called This Is American Soccer. As we all spend a good deal of our time in the soccer blogosphere, a lot of the conversation drifted towards what is taking place on the Interwebs from a uniquely American soccer driven perspective. From the type of content people are writing about, to how information is being shared to the proliferation of soccer blogs that are continuously sprouting up. The Internet is an interesting place for American soccer fans to get their news, get involved and be an active part of what is taking place within the sport. Adam is filled with incredible insight as to what’s taking place within the confines of soccer, and he is definitely a leading voice in the soccer world. If you ever get a chance to sit and chat with Adam make sure you pay attention as he is definitely someone who is having a big impact on the way American soccer fans engage with the sport digitally.
