Every weekend, fans across the US get up at the crack of dawn to catch an early game. It's an experience unique to US soccer fans.
We plan our weekends around these matches. We alter our schedules, maybe we don't go out on a Friday or Saturday night. We have friends and family members who think we're crazy for waking up at 4 or 5am to watch a soccer game.
But we do it because we love it. And if waking up earlier than everyone else is the price of being a fan here, we gladly take that on.
Waking up for an early kickoff includes rituals that we all have. Make a cup of coffee. Turn lamps on. Let the dogs out. Put on our favorite jersey and grab our lucky mug. Sit in your lucky chair or head to the local spot who shows the early game. The ritual is as much a part of this as anything else.
